Course description:
This programme aims to equip students to function as counsellors, with an emphasis towards the psychotherapeutic end of the continuum. It is predominantly towards the psychodynamic, experiential and narrative approaches to counselling and this is reflected in the course content. The programme is an introductory course for people without formal qualifications or experience in the counselling fields.
Entry requirements:
Applicant must have an undergraduate degree, preferably in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, human services, theology, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, etc. They are required to have at least two years of work experience in the broad field of the human service professions. Preference is given to those applicants whose work has included a formal counselling role. In some circumstances, the two years of work experience can be in a volunteer capacity if it has involved formal counselling.
