In this course, what will be attempted is not mere description of abstract painting but developing the idea that abstraction has and can be used for various purposes such as expression of power and wealth, alienation and destruction or exploration and extension of painting’s limits to its extreme.

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) was founded in 1938 with an inaugural batch of 14 Fine Art students. NAFA has since been widely recognised as Singapore’s pre-eminent tertiary institution for artistic studies.
